Hello and welcome I’m Nath042 and this is just a small talk about the election, I’ll just get straight into it.
So Corbyn didn’t win the elections, he won around 30 extra seats. The cons lost around 12 seats, so yeah the landslide didn’t happen. This is because Corbyn pulled off such a good campaign and she didn’t campaign for young people. It currently looks like they will even have their school dinners taken away. Because no one won the election, no one hit the target 326 seats to win the majority. Theresa May has had to go to another party to win the majority. In order to do this, she has decided to go to the DUP.
The DUP is an interesting party, from what I have seen online they have links to terrorist group Ulster Resistance, they are anti-abortion, they are against gay rights, and they have shown signs of racism they also want to push creationism, which means getting taught about God in school. It feels like at the moment with our current government, we are going back in time where people were just unable to question things and find things out for themselves, I’m very worried about our current situation, and people not going to find REAL information.
I hope that Theresa May get voted out of her party for this decision. I’m not sure about the current conservatives and their ideals. A lot of the UK has become quite liberal, even the conservatives. Anyone should be able to do anything irrespective of colour, race, gender, faith, and sexuality etc. I hope that this party will not change that.
I will quote something said the other day by Theresa May:
“But I can tell you a few of the things I mean by that: I mean longer prison sentences for people convicted of terrorist offences. I mean making it easier for the authorities to deport foreign terror suspects to their own countries.”
This looks fairly good so far, a lot of people would agree with this. She goes on to say this:
“And I mean doing more to restrict the freedom and the movements of terrorist suspects when we have enough evidence to know they present a threat, but not enough evidence to prosecute them in full in court.
“And if human rights laws stop us from doing it, we will change those laws so we can do it.”
By all means, restrict the movement of terrorists coming into the UK, that’s great but for people inside of the UK you want to be able to prosecute people who “present a threat” when there is “not enough evidence to prosecute them in full in court.” What does that even mean? Does that mean prosecuting people for having a bad thought? Or prosecuting people for drawing a bomb? Or prosecuting people for saying hateful things? This to me is terrifying. We should not have to give up our rights in order to stop terrorism, especially when all terrorists so far, HAVE already been known to the government. Is she also implying a “shoot first, ask questions later” kind of leadership?
What is worse is, on top of that she has just sided with the DUP, and as earlier, I stated they have had links with terrorism. Making her quite the hypocrite.
On top of that, there are these other things she is planning, cutting pay for disabled people, cutting the NHS, cutting school funding. All of these things will have a very strong negative effect on our next generation, this could potentially create a breeding ground for terrorism! It is literally going to kill off our society’s most weak such as the disabled, the poor, the elderly and the homeless. And although we do have food banks, we shouldn’t need food banks!
I worry about what this government is doing with our people, I think we need to stand by what we care about and demand change. I stand by the NHS, I stand by the police, I stand by Corbyn. As I feel he is genuine, and I feel like he CAN make a difference.
